Immersive and innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and mixed reality (MR) gain in importance on a daily basis, both in non-industrial and industrial sectors. Continuous scientific advances are published and presented on a regular basis in various conferences and journals, mostly focusing on performance improvements or accuracy enhancements, principally incorporating upscaling of resources and mainly evaluated in compact and controlled settings.
However, the requirements of industry and public sector are not limited to performance and accuracy, but also include adaptability to varying requirements and volatile environments, as well as the robustness and reliability. Furthermore, limited financial and human resources for commissioning and maintaining such systems and also data privacy concerns together impose restrictions on upscaling of resources and thereby limit the utilization of aforementioned systems in production.
The first international workshop on Robust AI and MR in Engineering and Production (RAIMREP) guided by researchers and engineers from Cooperative Technology Transfer Center Upper Franconia (TTZ) and Center for Responsible Artificial Intelligence (CRAI), and motivated by real-world challenges in integration of AI and MR in manufacturing, addresses these issues and cordially invites academic and industrial contributions (in form of student theses, posters, and short/long papers) from the following areas, but not limited to:
- AI-based automations in industry
- Applications of MR in production lines
- AI- and/or MR-based personal development and training
- Receipts and best-practices for integration of AI and MR in industry
- Transferable academic work for integration of AI and MR workflows in engineering and production
We explicitly motivate contributors to report also unsuccessful attempts for integrating aforementioned technologies in industrial settings and kindly ask researchers to engage their industry partners.
