Digital resilience is not only about surviving attacks - it is the ability to change and improve the software you depend on. In this hands-on tutorial, participants take a running Linux system and raise its security bar in two concrete ways: they add hardening flags to a real open-source package and rebuild it, and they tighten the system's service and network configuration to shrink its attack surface. They measure the security posture before and after with standard tools, discover that a good distribution already hardens by default (why "opt-out" beats "opt-in"), and finish by turning their change into a proper upstream contribution - the step that lets a single fix protect every user downstream. The same principle scales from the laptop on the desk to the Android device in your pocket.
